The Society works within the Civil Service framework of honesty, impartiality and integrity. It aims to build on common shared inter-faith values for the benefit of the Civil Service.The patron of the Civil Service Islamic Society is Sir Gus O'Donnell, Cabinet Secretary and Head of the Home Civil Service, who is the Society's Ambassador.

We pray that you are all well and in the best of Imaan and Health.

The Civil Service Islamic Society (CSIS) holds elections for the Council of Management (COM) every 2 years. COM is the decision making body of CSIS and ensures that it carries out activities that meet the Societies aims and objectives. To view the posts available on COM please see attached document.
In line with our constitution 21 days’ notice is hereby given to members to nominate for a position on COM.
There are a maximum of 12 positions on COM and all prospective applicants must self nominate by completing the attached nomination form. The current COM will in effect dissolve at the AGM on 26th March 2010 and the newly elected COM will be announced.

Eligibility Criteria:
• Abide by rules and regulations stipulated in the Constitution;
• Any member registered with CSIS or willing to do so before the AGM;
• You can only nominate yourself and are not allowed to submit on behalf of others;
• Must be willing to serve a term of 2 years;
• Willing to commit at least 3 hours per week and attend monthly COM meetings face to face or via video/telephone conferencing;
• Willing to attend the AGM 26th March 2010 and away day on Saturday 3rd April 2010

Desirable Skills and Experience:
• Strong leadership skills;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Good team player;
• Self starter and
• Passion to make the Civil Service the No1 employer for Muslims.

Timeline
Election commences: Friday 5th February 2010
Deadline for COM nominations: Tuesday 9th March 2010
Secret ballot (Candidate profiles to be sent to all members for voting): Friday 12th March 2010– Friday 19th March 2010
Successful COM applicants notified by President: Friday 19th March 2010
AGM evening reception with members (announcement of new COMS): Friday 26th March 2010
CSIS Team Away Day: Saturday 27th March 2010, Manning House, London
NB: An independent officer will be appointed to view the applications and arrange a secret ballot if necessary.
